Happy Birthday, Working out, Go Stars, Jim Elliot, and the Oceanic Six

Haven't blogged in about a week....Seems like lots has been going on and I just have struggled with keeping up....so here's a quick rundown....

  • Had a GREAT birthday last week....So much fun being with family and friends...I really appreciate all the well wishes and more so the relationships that those well wishes came from.  I felt like I couldn't get anything done because of all the calls, texts, facebook messages, and just people popping in.  It was so great!!!

Have gotten back into the workout routine....its been great but is certainly forcing me to be more disciplined.  I did hit a goal on Saturday that I've been working at for a few months.  Pretty exciting stuff!

I'm REALLY enjoying the Stanley Cup playoffs....Huge win for the beloved Stars on Saturday and of course the Penguins looked VERY dominant yesterday...the Stars face a must win tonight and then must win again at Joe Louis...it would take a miracle to erase a 3-0 defecit, but there sure have been miracles in hockey before (see 1980). I believe!

I don't know if we are supposed to have heros on earth other than Jesus but if we do, mine would have to be Jim Elliot.  I won't spend time in this post saying "why"; I'll save that for another time.  At any rate, a few years ago I got the LIFE magazine from 1956 that contained the story of Jim's martyrdom as a part of my collection.  Yesterday, my buddy Larry gave me a Reader's Digest from 1956 that had an excerpt from the then forthcoming book, Through Gates of Splendor.  What a gift!  It was amazing!

And I can't finish this LONG post out without making a brief lost reference.  We have 2 hours left in what I think has been an AMAZING season.  I'm so excited.  Next week we find out how the Oceanic Six got off the island.  CAN'T WAIT!!!
